Whistleblower MyWatch in danger 'cos Top Police Sexual Scandal

Whistleblower MyWatch says it has received a set of photographs and documents related to a sexual scandal involving a top police officer.

Its chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan, who did not name the police officer, said MyWatch is prepared to make the photographs and documents public.

However, he sought an assurance from the prime minister and the home minister that action would be taken.

"MyWatch wants an assurance from Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that they will immediately suspend the officer, regardless of his position and title, and will instruct a thorough investigation into this matter.

"MyWatch has made number of revelations before this and demanded for full investigations. But, sadly, all our revelations have been swept under the carpet," Sanjeevan added in a statement today.

If an assurance is given, he said, MyWatch would immediately reveal the evidence.

“This is another opportunity for both the prime minister and home minister to show that they don't compromise with wrongdoings or abuse of power involving top police officers and that they are ready to act on information,” he added.

The whistleblower, who was shot several times last year, also noted that this leatest move of his could again put his personal safety at risk. - Mkini

MyWatch chief gets another death threat after pledging more exposure

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 — After surviving a near-fatal shooting last July, anti-crime watchdog chief R. Sri Sanjeevan received another death threat this morning, barely a day after promising to expose wrongdoings within the police force.

Sanjeevan told The Malay Mail Online that at 3.53am, a text message from an unknown number containing foul words in Tamil was delivered to his phone.

According to the MyWatch chief, the message translates to: “You think you’re so influential. Don’t play with me, brother. Confirm you will die in my hands. Call me if you are man enough.”

The threat, Sanjeevan said, is likely connected to an interview published on Free Malaysia Today (FMT) yesterday, where he had spoken of his future plans for MyWatch.

The outspoken anti-crime activist said he suspects the involvement of “influential people”, as the revelation he had reportedly promised to make soon are connected to drug syndicates and corrupt police personnel.

“If you look at the chronology of incidents, you will know what I mean. January last year I received the first death threat and another in April from a landline number at the Jelubu police headquarters. I lodge a report on both incidents but I’ve heard nothing on it.

“Right after that, I was attacked by four men, also in April last year, and sustained minor injuries. And then it was the shooting in July,” he said, adding that he will lodge a report later today to put the matter on record even if the complaint is not investigated.

“Even after I was gunned down the police did not provided protection, they did not even send a police patrol car to where I live. I don’t expect much but just to put it on record,” he said.

On July 27, Sanjeevan was shot in the abdomen by a pillion rider on a motorcycle which drew up alongside the silver BMW car he was driving at an intersection in Bahau, Negri Sembilan, a few days after he alleged corruption in the police top brass.

The activist had made a shocking video based on confession on alleged drug syndicate who were working hand-in-hand with police officers.

Sanjeevan had tweeted through his @SanjeevanSS account on July 25, saying “Seriously thinking to expose on a top leader of @PDRMsia where his son is under payroll of kingpins and some syndicates. Interesting piece!”, referring to the Twitter account of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

Hours before the shooting, Sanjeevan had posted another tweet: “A @PDRMsia cop told some syndicate fellow that he’ll get them firearm & told them to fire few shots at my house to scare me/family!”

Last week, Sanjeevan complained that the police have yet to identify the shooter and the individual responsible for abetting the crime, despite Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar’s claim after the incident that the activist was likely shot by his own acquaintance.

Two days ago online news portal The Malaysian Insider reported that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at least 60 police officers in the capital city were being probed on suspicion of being involved in money-laundering and corruption.

Sanjeevan added that the report gave credence to his revelation on corrupt cops, but cautioned the graft busters that there were “many more outside Kuala Lumpur involved” as well.
